Applying false eyelashes to naturally curly lashes can be a little tricky … and frustrating! Today, we have some simple tricks you can apply that won’t hurt your eyes but will make applying lashes a much easier experience.
So what causes curly lashes? It’s more than likely due to your unique genetics; African American women are prone to having curlier lashes, but many other races are blessed with this beautiful feature also (you lucky ladies!). 🙂
To apply false eyelashes, relax the curl using the following pain-free steps:
- Apply a clear mascara to the lashes first; this will act as hair gel does on your hair
- Take a disposable mascara wand and heat it up with a blowdryer
- Test the mascara wand on your forearm before moving forward (no burns!)
- Take the mascara wand and brush the hairs downwards towards your undereye area
Using this method will help relax the lashes and straighten them out temporarily so you may easily apply your false eyelashes. Your natural lashes will eventually regain their curl, but this makes it easier to apply the falsies.

Thanks! I have this problem.
Can you please write a blog post on how to look after false lashes that are human hair or synthetic?
I usually use a cotton bud with Clinique eye makeup remover and then some rubbing alcohol to get rid of germs. Is this right?
How do you get them to keep their shape?
Thanks
Roz
